Are you interested in helping build a unique on-line presence for Chorlton, which keeps people who live, work in, or visit here, connected and informed about everything that is happening in our community?
We are a group of local people who came together during Covid as “Let’s Reimagine Chorlton”. We helped facilitate the Chorlton Get Together last autumn, and are working on the idea of a Chorlton Community Cooperative - a membership organisation that would act to support local initiatives and projects.
We have £2,500 to support the initial phase of this project, which we anticipate running from February to end May 2023. We have a basic website to build on. This was built in the Drupal content management system (similar to Wordpress) `We envisage using Mailchimp for our regular communications to subscribers.
The key tasks will be to:
Curate new content for the website and new newsletter
Reach out across Chorlton to seek out, encourage and support info/stories from community groups, businesses and individuals
Build on and grow the current database of subscribers
Develop future ideas for the website and newsletter including funding ideas
(Social media to be discussed).
We’d hope this project will appeal to someone wishing to become an active member of the group (who are leading on the idea of the Chorlton Community Cooperative), building on our ideas and connections to date.
As the project develops, we will be looking at ways, with your input, in which this initiative can be financially sustainable in the longer term (our initial funding comes from a grant).
