DESCRIPTION:Walking Mums Club have a weekly walk at Alexandra Park every Tuesday from 11:30am. Fresh air\, being in nature\, walking\, talking\, learning and laughing are all great for you (and your baby). That’s why Walking Mums Club was set up. They’ve built an inclusive community of mums who walk together across parks in Greater Manchester\, building new friendships\, supporting each other and sharing stories of their parental journeys. Join one of the walks in your local park to take those first steps pre- and post-partum and link into a network of mums all experiencing the same highs and lows. Meet at 11:30am outside the Pavilion Café within the park\, then head out for a loop of the park before heading back to the café (around 12:30pm) for an optional brew. SUMMARY:Manchester Poets - Sammy Weaver
DESCRIPTION:Sammy Weaver is Rochdale’s first Poet Laureate\, appointed as part of Rochdale’s year as Greater Manchester Town of Culture 25–26. Her debut pamphlet Angola\, America (Seren\, 2022) won Mslexia’s Poetry Pamphlet Prize 2021 and was shortlisted for the Michael Marks Poetry Award 2023. Her poems have appeared in The Irish Times\, Colorado Review\, The Moth\, Mslexia\, Anthropocene and The Island Review. In 2025\, she was made a Yaddo Fellow and won a Northern Debut Award for Poetry. \nShe has ten years’ experience leading creative writing sessions in community\, education and criminal justice settings. Sammy loves bringing the spark of creativity and poetry to people of all backgrounds. She believes that anyone can be a creative writer with the right support. She especially likes the challenge of inspiring people with societal or personal barriers to writing. \nSammy grew up on the Welsh Borders and now lives on a narrowboat on the Pennine waterways.

Litter pickers and hoops are provided\, just bring gloves and dress for the weather. There’ll be a free drink at the Bowling Green when the wombling’s done. \nPicks are usually the second Sunday of the month\, but do check the Facebook group  before leaving home\, as wombling can be affected by bad weather. \nMeet at 11am\, Chorlton Ees Car Park.
