Spending in Co-op stores by members living in Chorlton has generated over £23,500 for three local projects.
Representatives from the projects came into stores in Chorlton on Staurday 24 November to celebrate. The picture shows a cheque being handed to Whalley Range Community Forumby staff at the Wilbraham Road Co-op.
The other two Chorlton projects were The Dressing Room Caféand Chorlton Woodcraft Folk. The three projects were chosen by local Co-op members in a poll organised by the Chorlton Co-op Cluster.Across the UK a total of £19m has been raised for local projects and causes this way. When members use their membership cards, 1% of anything they spend on Co-op own-brand products goes to local projects. Members can choose one from a list of three in their area, or it is shared between them.
