Care about clean air? Your help wanted! Join the puppet parade and picnic at one Manchester’s best parks in June.
The Friends of Alexandra Park and the Whalley Range Clean Air group are holding a puppet parade and picnic to draw everyone’s attention to the dangers of the dirty air we are breathing.
The puppets will help everyone in the park to join in conversations, with ideas about the poor air and the measures we can take to improve it.
The group needs help from volunteers to handle the puppets on the day (under guidance from an expert puppet maker) and they need stewards for the event too – and also people to come along and enjoy the picnic! It’s free, of course, and everyone is welcome.
The Friends are also hoping that performers will share songs, music and poems. They don’t have a budget to pay, unfortunately (this is a voluntary group), but they hope that concern for the quality of our air and an opportunity to meet and talk about the issues will be enough motivation to join in and/or help at the event.
The parade and picnic takes place on Saturday 21 June 2025, from 2pm to 4pm. We’ll have more details nearer the time, but in the meantime, if you can help, perform or have any questions, please contact the Friends of Alexandra Park.
