There’s a team of volunteers working hard to make sure Chorlton’s next Get Together is the best yet!
Sleeves were very firmly rolled up at our most recent organising team meeting in the Lloyds and the event is coming together nicely.
We’ve had an amazing response to our call-out for volunteers, community groups, performers, stewards and helpers. We love how Chorlton comes together too! It’s not too late to join in, if you can spare an hour or two. Email us at – if you can help on the day, offer transport, materials or just great ideas, we’d love to hear from you as soon as possible, so we can include you in the plan.
There’ll be loads of things to do, play, learn and enjoy on the day. We’ve sorted out stopping and diverting the traffic (always an important one) and we’re busily planning how best to use for our long stretch of Wilbraham Road (roughly from the Four Banks junction to Oswald Road).
We’ll be putting out comfy chairs, rugs and lamps to create an outdoor living room, where you can stop, take the weight off and have a natter. There’ll be community group activities – including environmental, gardening and Friends groups, who take care of and campaign for, our cherished green spaces, both in Chorlton and in the wider world. Bring along houseplants and garden plants (edibles and ornamentals) to swap for something different at the Chorlton Plant Swap stall. Stay for a chat about gardening too”.
There’ll be artivists and craftivists, cyclists and musicians, plus young people’s performances, toys, story times and at least one choir!
Chorlton Good Neighbours (who do vital work with older people), Unity Arts and Welsafe (who do equally vital work with young people) will be there, as will Redeemer Church, Unicorn Grocery, local traders and more. Chorlton Community Cooperative (that’s us) will be there too. Come and say hello!
Make new friends, have fun and learn what’s happening in your neighbourhood – while the kids play safely in the middle of the road!
Wilbraham Road, 12-4pm, Sunday 24 September
