The Great Miss Lydia Becker
Author Joanna Williams tells us about the amazing Miss Lydia Becker (pictured), the acknowledged (though unofficial) leader of the suffragette movement in the late 19th century. This feisty and single minded woman ensured a thousand women could vote in the general election of 1868, due to a legal loophole. She also inspired a young Emmeline Pankhurst
Come and hear her amazing story. All welcome – entry is £3, but includes tea and coffee.
