Let's Get Together!
Sunday 24 September 2023, 12-4pm,
What is it?
This Chorlton Get Together is a family-friendly, community-led gathering in the heart of Chorlton, along the lines of similar events held very successfully in 2019 and 2022.
We will close a stretch of Wilbraham Road – a central, high-profile and accessible location – because we want as many people as possible to see what’s happening and to be able to join in.
We’ll have a range of fun activities and creative spaces, including a series of outdoor ‘living rooms’ for people to gather, chat and play. The event will demonstrate how Chorlton can (and does!) cooperate for a greener, kinder, more connected neighbourhood. It will offer a safe space for children and young people to express themselves.
The traffic-free street will help highlight the benefits of safer streets following on from World Car-Free Day (which is earlier that week) – by bringing the sweet sound of conversation, laughter and play to Chorlton’s main street, in place of traffic noise and fumes. It also contributes to Chorlton and Chorlton Park climate action plans.
We are inviting groups (formal, informal, friends!) to express an interest in taking part, so that we can plan the space and associated logistics, and give you plenty of time to organise your activity.
What next?
- Please read the pre-event briefing.
- Have a chat to your friends or other group members and hopefully get excited!
- If you have any queries or ideas – get in touch or email us at
If you don’t want to book a space, but would like to help us out in organising the event, or volunteering on the day itself, please let us know! There’s a lot to do and we would love more volunteers!
