We’re absolutely delighted to learn of the return of the 84 bus route (now the 87), as well as a new Local Link to Wythenshawe Hospital.
When Little Gem buses stopped operating in Manchester earlier this year, it meant the loss of the popular 84 bus. This was a vitally important service, connecting the Merseybank area with the rest of Chorlton and beyond.
Chorlton Park councillors, Dave Rawson, Mandie Shilton Godwin and Joanna Midgley joined forces with our MP, Jeff Smith, to campaign for its return.
As a result, the new 87 service (operated by Diamond Buses for TfGM) launches on 24 July 2023. It will connect Chorlton, Chorlton Green, Chorltonville, Merseybank, Withington (including the hospital), Moss Side, MRI, the University and Piccadilly Gardens.
The service will operate hourly – see the full timetable here.
There’ll also be a new ‘Local Link’ wheelchair-accessible minibus service, which you can book to go to Wythenshawe Hospital. Register free online, or call 0161 244 1000. Fares are in line with the £2 fare cap.
Our thanks to Jeff Smith and the Chorlton Park councillors for working to bring back these important services.
